Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ Overview

Cimarron Trailers has been building aluminum horse and livestock trailers since 2000 and is known for strong construction details like its V-truss aluminum plank floor and thick gel-coated fiberglass roof. Outback Customs is a living quarters converter known for custom interiors with hardwood cabinetry and handmade furniture. Together they create the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ, a trailer that is as comfortable for people as it is for horses.

The “8412” model designation reflects the trailer’s 8′ width and 12′ living quarters class, and this one has a 12’8″ shortwall. That shortwall gives you room for a full kitchen, sofa, bathroom with shower and a gooseneck bedroom, while the 4 horse slant load area keeps your horses comfortable on long hauls. The overall length is 30′, with a 7’7″ interior height.

At an estimated 11,225 lbs. empty with a 16,000 lb. GVWR, the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ is a serious trailer that calls for a properly rated truck. In return, you get the space, power and comfort needed for extended trips with four horses.

Who This Trailer Is Built For

• Rodeo competitors and team ropers who travel most weekends
• Horse show families who stay on the grounds for multi-day events
• Trail riders who camp at horse parks with or without hookups
• Riders hauling up to four horses who want a true home away from home
• Buyers who value custom, hardwood living quarters over mass-produced interiors

Living Quarters Features

The living quarters are what make the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ special. Outback Customs builds interiors with a level of craftsmanship you can see and feel the moment you step inside.

Hardwood Cabinets and Trim

The interior features 100% hardwood trim and cabinets throughout, with oversize crown moulding, raised panel doors and adjustable cabinet hinges. Hardwood is durable and attractive, and the adjustable hinges make it easy to keep doors aligned after years of travel.

Handmade Leather Sofa

The leather sofa was handmade and hand stitched at Outback Customs. It gives you a comfortable place to relax after a long day and adds a custom, high-end touch you will not find in most production trailers.

Walls, Ceilings and Flooring

Soft-touch walls and ceilings give the interior a warm, finished look and help reduce noise. Commercial-grade vinyl flooring stands up to boots and dirt, and both the floor and the bunk are insulated for better comfort in cold weather.

Kitchen

The kitchen is set up for real cooking on the road:

• Convection microwave that can bake and roast as well as reheat
• Recessed 2-burner cooktop with a vented range hood
• Hardwood cabinetry for storage

A convection microwave and cooktop let you make full meals at the show grounds instead of relying on concession stands.

Climate Control

A 13,500 BTU air conditioner with heat strip and thermostat keeps the living quarters cool in summer, and a 16,000 BTU ducted LP furnace provides reliable heat on cold nights. Ducted heat spreads warmth evenly through the living space.

Bathroom

The bathroom includes a shower with a sky dome above it, framed in solid hardwood trim. The sky dome adds headroom and natural light, making the bathroom feel larger and more comfortable.

Entertainment

An AM/FM/CD/DVD player with inside and outside speakers lets you enjoy music and movies inside or entertain friends under the awning.

Onan Generator

An Onan generator by Cummins (4.0 gasoline) powers the air conditioner, microwave and other electrical needs when shore power is not available. A dedicated aluminum generator cover protects it from the weather and road debris. This is one of the most valuable features for riders who camp at trailheads or events without hookups.

Horse Area Features

The horse area of the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ is built with the same attention to strength and safety that Cimarron is known for.

V-Truss Aluminum Plank Floor

All-aluminum framing and a V-truss aluminum plank floor put a beam every 4 inches. That creates a very strong, stiff floor that helps keep your horses and trailer safe.

Fiberglass Roof

The 1/2″ thick gel-coated fiberglass roof helps keep the horse area cooler than a typical aluminum roof and is highly resistant to hail damage. A cooler roof means a more comfortable ride for your horses on hot days.

Insulated Walls and Kick Plate

Insulated aluminum walls help moderate temperatures, and a 48″ wall lining kick plate protects the walls and your horses’ legs. Rubber stall matting provides solid, cushioned footing.

Dividers and Doors

Extruded aluminum stall dividers with slam latches make loading and securing horses quick and safe. The 50/50 rear doors are designed for the slant load layout, and gate springs help control door movement.

Ventilation and Comfort

• Two-way pop-up vents, one per horse
• 4 drop windows on the horses’ rumps (curb side)
• Square drop-down feed doors with face guards
• 1 stall fan per stall
• Recessed lights in the horse area

Plenty of airflow, a fan for every stall and good lighting help horses stay calm and comfortable, especially on long summer trips.

Rear Tack

The carpeted rear tack includes a saddle tree and a folding blanket pole, so you have convenient storage for saddles, pads and blankets right where you need them.

Exterior and Convenience Features

• Enclosed haypod and standing platform, Carry hay on the roof, protected from weather, with a platform for safe loading.
• 19′ electric awning with weather shield cover, Shade and shelter beside the trailer at the push of a button.
• LED exterior lights and a load light, Better visibility on the road and when loading at night.
• Recessed rear light switches, Convenient, protected switches at the back of the trailer.
• Full-length extruded side slat, Double walled for added strength and protection.
• Welded hinges with grease fittings, Durable hinges that are easy to maintain.
• Aluminum generator cover, Protects the Onan generator.

A Weekend with the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ

To picture how the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ fits into your life, imagine a typical three-day event.

Arrival

You pull into the grounds on Friday afternoon with four horses loaded and hay stored in the enclosed haypod. Within minutes the 19′ electric awning is out and the horses are unloaded through the 50/50 rear doors. If there is no hookup, the Onan generator powers the A/C so the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ is cool inside before you finish settling the horses.

Evenings

After a long day of classes, runs or trail miles, you cook dinner on the 2-burner cooktop or in the convection microwave, then relax on the hand-stitched leather sofa. The outside speakers let friends gather under the awning, while the soft-touch walls and insulated floor keep the living quarters quiet and comfortable.

Cold Mornings

When temperatures drop overnight, the 16,000 BTU ducted furnace keeps the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ warm, and a hot shower under the sky dome starts the day right. Meanwhile your horses stay comfortable in the insulated horse area with stall fans ready for the afternoon heat.

Heading Home

Loading up is just as easy. Slam-latch dividers secure each horse quickly, load lights help if you leave after dark, and the strong V-truss floor and fiberglass roof give you confidence on the drive home. That is the experience the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ is built to deliver, weekend after weekend.

For many owners, the Cimarron 8412 Outback 4 Horse LQ replaces hotel stays entirely, which can help offset the cost of the trailer over several seasons of travel. It also means you are always close to your horses, which many riders value most of all.
